Message from the Exhibition Chairperson

The 31st International Symposium on Space Technology and Science is going to be held in Himegin Hall, Matsuyama-city, Ehime Prefecture, from June 3 (Sat.) to 9 (Fri.) 2017 jointly with 26th International Symposium on Space Flight Dynamics and 8th Nano-satellite Symposium.  The Organizing Committee of the 31st ISTS is planning an “International Space Exhibition” at the symposium site with aerospace related exhibits such as models, components, photographs and films (Note that the duration of the exhibition itself is five days, from June 3 (Sat.) to 7th (Wed.)).

Matsuyama City, Ehime is a popular sight-seeing city, known for quite a few attractions, such as Natsume Soseki novel, “Botchan”, the haiku by Masaoka shiki, Shiba Ryoutaro’s historical novel, “Clouds above the Hill”, and Dogo hot spring. Being compact and scenic, this two-star city by an internationally authoritative tourist guidebook owns Matsuyama Castle, which mounts on a hill and embraces its magnificent castle tower.

Beyond the city, Ehime Prefecture has afforded its rich resources to the space exploration endeavors. The Prefecture has offered its excellent location to the heavy industrial manufacturers, which provide the essential equipment used for a number of space missions. Ehime is also a proud agricultural producer, which supplied its citrus technically kept fresh for an extended period of time, when Astronaut Kimiya Yui was on board the International Space Station. Matsuyama City is honored to host ISTS. This will prove to be a splendid opportunity to enhance awareness of the local contribution to space science among the businesses and to increase the interest of the coming generations in the space.

On behalf of the Organizing Committee of the 31st ISTS, we would like to invite you to take part in the exhibition and to show your activities. Obviously, your participation will contribute to the success of the exhibition and the Symposium.

We are looking forward to your participation to make the Symposium as attractive and successful as possible.
