About IEPC

Message from the 34th IEPC General Chairperson

On behalf of the 2015-IEPC (International Electric Propulsion Conference) organizing committee, we look forward to welcoming you to the upcoming 34th IEPC which will take place from Monday, July 6th, 2015 to Friday, July 10th, 2015 at Kobe city, Hyogo, Japan as the joint conference with 30th ISTS (International Symposium on Space Technology and Sciences) and 6th NSAT (Nano-Satellite symposium). Its international exhibition on space will be held from Saturday, July 4th, 2015 to Wednesday, to July 8th, 2015 in advance. In this joint conference, the number of participants will amount to over 1,300 and it will give you the precious opportunities to exchange the information and discuss the “state-of-the-art” on electric propulsion and another space activities.

Professor emeritus, Yoshihiro ARAKAWA, The Univ. of Tokyo

IEPC is held every other year in alternation between a US and a non-US location. Succeeding the 33rd IEPC in Washington DC, USA in 2013, it will return to Japan after 16 years. The 34th IEPC is the third conference held in Japan, following the 17th IEPC jointly with 15th ISTS at Tokyo in 1984 and the 26th IEPC at Kitakyushu in 1999.

IEPC is the premier venue for researchers from around the world to meet and discuss the latest in the field of electric propulsion under the sponsorship of the Electric Rocket Propulsion Society. Conference topics include experimental and numerical investigations of technologies such as ion thrusters, Hall effect thrusters, arc and resistojets, MPDs and FRCs, as well as basic plasma processes, diagnostics, and mission trade studies. The conference provides the perfect forum to present research findings, and offers an unequalled opportunity to learn the latest developments, meet with colleagues, and establish new business contacts.

I sincerely hope that you will actively participate in the 34th IEPC and wish that it will be a beneficial and fruitful time for you. Enjoy your stay and have a nice trip to Kobe.

Conference Prospectus (in Japanese)

A summary in Japanese of the history of the IEPCs and the mission of this year’s meeting can be found in the conference prospectus. It also includes a brief overview of this year’s agenda and the persons responsible for the event in Kobe. The file is located here.

About IEPC

International Electric Propulsion Conference (IEPC) is the world’s largest conference on “electric propulsion” research and development for spacecraft held by Electric Rocket Propulsion Society (ERPS). Participants from more than twenty countries come together representing the worldwide electric propulsion community.

The conference is held every other year in alternation between a US and a non-US location. Succeeding the 33rd IEPC in Washington DC, USA in 2013, it will return to Japan after 16 years, jointly with the 30th ISTS (International Symposium on Space Technology and Sciences) and the 6th NSAT (Nano-Satellite symposium).

IEPC History

The 34th IEPC is the third conference held in Japan as shown in Table 1. The first one was held in Tokyo in 1984 jointly with 15th ISTS. The second one was held alone in Kitakyushu in 1999.
